Tucson's Inter-galactic visitors?

In an entire beautiful blue sky filled with thin, scattered clouds this big fluffy one traveling all alone caught my eye. Cleverly disguised visitors from a distant star? Or just another beautiful Tucson sky?

Gnarly ancient tree photograph?

Well this tree in Saguaro East National Park has certainly been around for awhile but this "old photo" effect was done by the photographer. Beautiful, isn't it?

Catalinas Crested with Snow

The snow has stopped falling but the beautiful Catalina Mountains to the north are still blanked with snow - gorgeous!

Spring seating ~

If you want the quickest way possible to perk up a drab patio & yard, add some of these colorful plastic chairs for a cheerful lift! Spring will be here before you know it so get ready for those patio parties and say "Welcome" with a chair bouquet.

INGREDIENTS: 4 cups brussels sprouts, halved, stem removed 8 cloves of garlic, halved 4 tbsp olive oil 2 tbsp miso paste 2 tbsp brown sugar 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar 1 tbsp dijon mustard 1/2 lemon, zested salt and pepper as needed

DIRECTIONS: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a medium mixing bowl toss the brussels sprouts and garlic with the olive oil and salt and pepper. Spread out on a baking sheet and roast in the oven for 12-15 minutes until caramelized and tender. While the brussels sprouts are roasting add the remaining ingredients into the mixing bowl and mix to combine to make the miso glaze. Once the brussels sprouts are roasted and still hot add them into the mixing bowl and coat with the miso glaze by stirring until evenly dispersed. Serve immediately.

With spring comes bugs - BIG bugs!

OK, OK, I know that spiders aren't bugs (they are arachnids) but "Big Arachnids" didn't have quite the same ring to it. Here is another imaginative piece of residential yard art (well, in this case - ROOF ART) spotted by a follower. Note the golf club legs! This is the same house that has the robot mailbox and the dragons.... I guess the guy is an ex-golfer! Good way to reuse and recycle!

Today's the Last Day!

If you have been meaning to drive down to Tubac for the wonderful annual Festival of the Arts, today is your last chance. From 10am - 5pm enjoy music and art in a quaint village setting.  Drive South on I-10 and take Exit #34 for Tubac.

Ahhhhh - refreshing dust bath

Elephants spray each other with dust to deter bugs and to keep cool. They were blowing around a LOT of dust when I was watching them! The elephant exhibit is the newest major expansion of the Reid Park Zoo. The zoo even has an elephant web cam so if you are crazy about elephants, be sure to tune in! Hogging the spotlight ~

Once a year he hogs the spotlight. You know who I'm talking about... PHIL. Today is his day - Groundhog Day - in case it slipped past you. For all the news about Phil and his weather prediction, go here! Since I was born in Pennsylvania I thought that I would include a little feature today on my home state and the most adored groundhog in the world. :)

Heros Flew These ~

Heros! This combat plane is a Curtis P-40E housed at the amazing Pima Air & Space Museum. Its markings are of the 49th Fighter Group, 9th Fighter Squadron, Darwin, Australia, 1942.  
Kudos to the brave pilots who took to the air in this aircraft knowing that it was inferior in many respects to most of the enemy aircraft they faced.
