The PU stands for Pullman, which I found in my search, is from the company that built Pullman Railroad Cars on the southside of Chicago. Thanks for jump-starting this search!! We moved to Tucson in 1968 for my dad's post-doctorate work at UA. But I never forgot that Chicago #!!
