The Loft Cinema is Tucson's "art" movie house. The building has a main auditorium and two smaller screens so there are often multiple films showing simultaneously. If you want to see a foreign film or a festival winner, this is the place it will most likely be shown in Tucson. The Loft is a nonprofit business and is member supported. I think it's the only movie theatre in town that serves wine, beer, and organic popcorn!!
Love theatres like this that show good, interesting foreign movies.
ReplyDeleteI went to see "Haute Cuisine" there and it is the true story of a female chef's 2-year stint as President Mitterand's personal cook at the Palace. It was WONDERFUL!!!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see this theater is still in business! It's a testament to the open and interested minds of the Tucson people. There's a place for a Park Mall theater with its' newest hits...but The Loft thinks outside the box. Did you know the original Loft was a small building on 5th street in front of the Biosciences building?!! Had to relocate when all the school expansion went on. "Haute Cuisine" sounds like a good movie, thanks for the info on it.
ReplyDeleteMy cousin owned The LOFT for many years......
