Tucson's El Greco Sky ~

The stormy, dark and mysterious sky in this image reminds me of El Greco's view of Toledo. This astonishing full arc rainbow was captured up in Dove Mountain.

Neon Sky ~

In Tucson we get the most gorgous "after glow" from our rainstorms! Check out these rainy clouds pierced by a piece of neon rainbow! Gorgeous! This was taken up in Dove Mountain. What a beautiful photo!

A night of wonderful theatre in Tucson ~

Yes! Les Mis is playing in Tucson! And the production is wonderful with an ALL TUCSON cast. Marvelous! If you love live theatre and you want to support this all-local-talent production, please buy a ticket to this! Arizona Onstage Productions has brought this to the Berger Performing Arts Center. 

A gem of a golf course ~

Just as the annual Gem & Mineral Show packs up the last sparkling geode, we are getting ready to host a "gem" of a golf tournament - the Accenture Match Play. Here is one of the beautiful sheltered dining areas at the Ritz-Carlton/Dove Mountain.

Final day of play at Dove Mountain ~

Today is the final day of play at the Accenture Match Play tournament at Tucson's beautiful Ritz-Carlton/Dove Mountain Resort. Wow, and it was an exciting tournament even without Tiger! (And the nervous sports writers said it couldn't be done.)

All eyes will be on Dove Mountain ~

The beautiful Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain is the setting again for this year's Accenture Match Play that tees off on Feb 15. There's lots of "Will he or won't he?" buzz about Tiger. The resort has an impressive collection of art and sculpture ~ here's one of the modern sculpture fountains on the grounds.

A Peek ~ Gorgeous Ritz Carlton Dove Mountain

The official grand opening of the Ritz Carlton/Dove Mountain resort hotel is next week but here is a glimpse inside of one of the private dining rooms. These stunning light fixtures feature hanging strands of minerals - quartz and amber - that positively glow as they move.

Perfect Sky, Perfect Temperature ~ Ah, Tucson!

We have finally (hurray!) put the intense heat behind us for the next few months. The temperatures now are in the 70's and 80's ~ just old fashioned beautiful weather. Blue skies, sunshine, and cactus - what Tucson is famous for!

After seeing my previous photos of the Ritz Carlton Dove Mountain resort, a golfer emailed to ask for a photo of the actual golf course itself. He wanted to see how the desert vegetation is integrated into the plan. Stately saguaros dot the hillside in the distance. Also note the shadow of an immense sagauro cactus in the lower right corner.

Mountaintop Living - Tucson's Dove Mountain

Here's another photo of the Ritz Carlton resort at Dove Mountain ~ way north of Tucson. This loggia is adjacent to one of the restaurants and it overlooks the golf course. The combination of stone and mesquite wood columns creates a rustic yet elegant walkway. If you scroll my previous posts you'll see a magnificent desert landscape view from Dove Mountain and also a closeup of a komodo dragon (a stone one!).

Godzilla Lizard Hazard ~ Unique Golf Challenge

Golfers have all sorts of challenges - their golf balls fly off into the rough, sink in water, and get buried in sand. But how would a golfer fend off a komodo dragon - with their trusty 9 iron?

This BIG stone sculpture guards the golf carts at the beautiful Ritz Carlton Golf Club at Dove Mountain. You may know it better as the recent host course for the Accenture Match Play Championship. Godzilla Golf indeed.
