I'm pretty sure it's a flourescent light cover and you may be in an exam room. If you are where I think you are, then it's meant to take your mind off of where you are. Or perhaps you're taking a meteorologist lecture and this is "what kind of cloud do you see"? ;-)
You, my friend, are 100% correct! I was at Tucson Surgery Center with a friend who was having arm/hand surgery. This was above all of the beds in the recovery area. (:

DeleteI did a Google image search for "fluorescent light cover" and the exact same style showed up. Had no clue they existed before this.
DeleteThey do look a little cheesy in the photo but it was a nice calming image to see before and after surgery, I think.
