It was the summer I turned 8 and I was at my grandparents house. They lived 5 blocks from us in Tucson and we always visited them on Sunday evenings, usually watching something, The Ed Sullivan show or Bonanza. I think Armstrong stepped out just before 8pm our time. Incredible!
There was such excitement about this event! I can't imagine what could pull the world together again the way this did. And for a day at least it took attention away from the Viet Nam war.
