Curlycue cactus ~

The grounds of Westward Look Resort had so many beautiful specimens of native plants to admire. This odd cactus caught my eye - looks like ribbon or macaroni or.... what do you think?

  1. Never seen anything like it. One of the branches looks like the shape of clover. Do you know the name of the cactus?

  2. Hi Kathy, I don't but I've asked a friend at the Desert Museum to see if she can identify this curious curly plant. I'll post the answer here.

  3. Hi Kathy!
One of the botany experts at the Desert Museum has identified this unusual specimen as "the crested form of Myrtillocactus geometrizans (candelabra cactus)."

  4. Its folds and layers give it the beautiful and unusual shape we seem to admire.
