Tucson's field of dreams ~

While walking on the grounds of the DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun I spied this amazing field of.... wheat? Dunno but it was 18' tall! Any ideas?

  1. That sure isn't something you expect to see in Tucson, AZ!

  2. Hmmm, not sure. Oleander doesn't have grain spikes. I'm just remembering the song from 'Oklahoma' where the "corn is as high as an elephant's eye", but this doesn't look like corn stalks! It IS very pretty and must sway and whistle beautifully in the wind.

  3. That's exactly the song I thought about when I took the photo! And the wind WAS rustling it a bit that day.

  4. It looks a lot like giant cane/elephant grass (Arundo donax) grown in a dry climate. It's a lot more leafy when grown in warmer climates.

  5. I mean...wetter climates...not warm. AZ doesn't have much issue with "warm." I'm from NC...my bad. =p
